Thank you to everyone who came to see our Midsummer Night’s Dream performances before half term, and well done to all those who took part (they even received a good luck message from Stephen Graham, who had heard they were performing!).

Year 13 mock interviews
This week we had over 25 volunteers from local employers support with our Year 13 mock interview sessions. All students had the opportunity to experience a mock interview scenario, which will help them in the future when applying for employment. Thank you to wonderful local businesses who supported this event (Tata Technologies, Siemens Energy, Barclaycard, Sheldon Bosley to name a few). We could not do this without our volunteers!
Dance news
A huge congratulations to our fabulous Year 10 dance students who created a Beyoncé remix dance music video whilst the school celebrated Black History Month this month. The students had so much fun. We can’t wait for another trip next half term, our Christmas dance performance, Motionhouse workshop as well as performing at Warwick Castle and Leamington Christmas Light Switch On!
Keep up the amazing work dancers!

Brühl German-Music exchange visit to Myton
Students and staff members from the Kunst-und Musikschule der Stadt Brühl arrived at Myton School this week as part of our longstanding German-Music exchange.
Students were hosted by the families of Myton students who had visiting Brühl last Easter, who kindly opened their homes to a German visitor for 5 days. It was lovely to see the students greeting each other as they got off the coach, many of them having kept in touch and become firm friends in the intervening months.
LRC National Poetry Day competition
Congratulations to Sarah in Year 11 and Zoe in Year 9 who are the winners of the recent LRC National Poetry Day competition. They were asked to write a poem based on one of the pieces of art on display in the LCR and we were blown away by the standard of their poems! We’ve published their poems below.

Celebrating Black and British culture
Myton School proudly hosted a vibrant and inspiring event this week, Celebrating Being Black and British, in recognition of Black History Month. The afternoon brought together over 70 pupils from Years 7 to 11, who engaged in a joyful celebration of culture, creativity, and community. This was after a host of assemblies led by Kieran Joseph (CEO of Guardian Ballers) for Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 about Black History Month and unpacking the theme of ‘Standing Firm in Power and Pride’.
Sarcoma UK fundraising is underway!
Fundraising for our charity of the year, Sarcoma UK is now well underway! We have chosen this charity in memory of a former Myton student, Aaliyah Godfrey, who lost her battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma in 2024 at just 20 years old. Aaliyah was kind, thoughtful, full of life, and a very talented artist who is deeply missed by family and friends.
Mr Griffin, Sixth Form Administrator, started the events by having his head shaved bald! He won’t now cut his hair again until July 2026 and, if enough money has been raised, will sport whatever style and colour the Sixth Formers choose to the Year 13 Leavers Ball in July 2026 – current favourite style is an electric blue mohican! Also, at every charity event between now and July, Sixth Formers can colour and style Mr Griffin’s hair in appropriate colours. Hitting monetary targets will unlock more styles and colours to be unleashed on Mr Griffin.
