Well done and thank you to our members of Warwick Youth Council who held cake sales last week to raise money for Cancer Research UK. They raised an amazing £420!

Prison? Me? No Way!
Our Year 9 students took part in an initiative this week to raise awareness of the causes, consequences, penalties and impact of crime.
Students attended a range of events and workshops throughout the day run by the crime prevention charity, Prison? Me? No Way!
They had the chance to hear ex-offenders talk about choices and consequences, find out more about issues such as vandalism, county lines and knife crime, and got to experience the inside of a prison cell.
Many thanks to all those who helped deliver such a valuable day and to King Henry VIII Endowed Trust in Warwick for generously funding this event.

World Book Day in our canteen!
There were some new dishes to try in our canteen this week in celebration of World Book Day, all designed by our very own students!
The menu included Chicken Roll Dahl designed by Benji (Year 7), Chronicles of Narnia bread designed by Emily (Year 7), BFG (bacon, fries and gravy) burger designed by Sam (Year 7), The Witches toad-in-the-hole cauldron designed by Charlotte (Year 7), Hungry Caterpillar salad designed by Gracie (Year 7), Olympian Ambrosia cookies designed by George (Year 7) and a Midsummer Night’s cream cake designed by Gracie (Year 7).
Well done on your dish designs and we hope you enjoyed seeing them brought to life. They all look delicious!

Nuclear research centre trip
Year 10 students visited the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy near Oxford this week to learn about the potential of nuclear fusion to meet our energy needs as well as technological challenges faced.
They got to see the Joint European Torus (JET), a magnetically confined plasma physics experiment. When running it heats plasma to 150 million degrees, making it the hottest place in the solar system (and in the universe outside of a supernova).

Year 12 guest speakers from BakerHicks
Year 12 welcomed four speakers to their Speaker Week session this week. Ash, Ariel, Meer and Bella from engineering firm BakerHicks shared their differing career journeys and proved that you don’t have to be an engineer to work at an engineering firm. They gave brilliant advice, explained more about their roles and demonstrated how the work that students do now really does feed into a real-life job in the end. Students asked questions at the end of the session and even stayed behind to talk individually and get some extra guidance. It’s great to set up such good community links, so if you have a passion, story or advice to share, please get in touch at [email protected].

Year 10 Maths Feast
Our top Year 10 Mathematicians took part in Maths Feast this week, a fun and educational challenge organised by the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme. Students were tested on maths skills, problem-solving and teamwork in an all-you-can-eat feast of problems!
Well done to everyone who took part!
