As part of the Young High Sheriff ‘Make a Difference’ workshop, pupils worked together this week to tackle vaping through education and public awareness, developing a programme for implementation across the Warwick and Leamington area in collaboration with the police, marketing teams, and Warwickshire County Council. The programme also advocates for sanctions on licences for shops selling counterfeit products or supplying underage customers.

Year 11 mock interviews
Our Year 11 students had the opportunity to experience a ‘mock interview’ last week with volunteers and employers from the local community. This can be a scary experience for students as some will never have had an interview before, but this is all part of their personal development in preparing for the working world. Students really engaged with the volunteers and made the most of the opportunity. Thank you Baxi, Barclaycard, Tata technologies, Fortem, Siemens Energy, Morrisons and our other volunteers who supported our students with this event.
Holocaust Memorial Day Service
Pupils from Myton School took part in the annual Holocaust Memorial Day Service this week at the War Memorial in Warwick. Caterina from Year 13 read a personal account by Anna Akhmatova, one of Russia’s greatest 20th century poets, about the repression under the dictatorship of Stalin’s Russia. Akhmatova describes her son’s arrest and the agony of the years she spent waiting for his return, not even knowing if he was still alive.
Oscar from Year 9 wrote and read his own very moving piece about his experiences reflecting on his own family history, which included a powerful message of the importance of remembering those involved. “They were all real people, with hopes, and lives and people who I might have known had the Holocaust not happened.” Mrs Woodward was very proud of the way the students read with such confidence and they are real credit to school.
Natural History Club
Members of our Natural History Club took part in the Great British Birdwatch last week run by the RSPB. James from Year 11 took these stunning photos.
So far the club have dissected fish, made food from berries collected on site, made footprint traps for foxes, modelled bird wings, planted a flower meadow, tested the strength of eggs and made ink from oak galls.
Coming up they will be making essential oils, building nest boxes and taking part in the National Education Nature Park programme as well as getting Myton accredited with Wild School status by the RSPB.
If students want to join in the fun they can come along after school to S5 in the science block on Wednesdays where Mr Hobbs and Mr Flavell will welcome them. All year groups welcome!
National Year of Reading 2026
If you’re into it, read into it! Everyone knows that reading expands worlds, sharpens minds, and fuels creativity. But fewer of us are making time for it. It’s time for the nation to ‘Go All In.’
Tip 3 – 20 is plenty
A level Law students visit the National Justice Museum
A level Law students recently took part in an educational trip to the National Justice Museum in Nottingham, gaining a valuable insight into both the modern legal system and the history of crime and punishment in the UK.
One of the highlights of the visit was participating in a mock trial held in the museum’s historic courtroom. Students took on the roles of barristers, witnesses, jurors and the defendant, allowing them to experience the court process first-hand. The case involved a 17 year old charged with murder under the principle of joint enterprise. The ultimately fatal knife attack occurred after the victim was mistakenly identified as a member of a rival gang. This challenging and realistic scenario encouraged students to think critically about criminal liability, intent, and the fairness of joint enterprise laws.

Year 7 Carol Service
Year 7 students attended the Christmas Carol Service at St Mary’s Church in Warwick this morning and enjoyed festive readings, carols and musical performances from some of our students. Well done to all our instrumentalists, vocalists and Sixth Form readers.
Thank you to all the parents, carers, governors and the Mayor of Warwick, Cllr Jackie D’Arcy and MP Matt Western for coming along and supporting this event. And special thanks to Reverend Canon Angus Aagaard for taking our service and St Mary’s Church for once again welcoming us so warmly.
Peter Pan
Staff took to the stage last night to perform their panto, Peter Pan to two fully packed-out audiences. Yet again they put on a brilliant show and have raised an amazing £2425 in ticket sales alone, which will be donated to our charity of the year, Sarcoma UK. Well done to everyone involved and thank you to all those who bought tickets!
Year 10 GCSE Business Students’ Christmas Challenge
Year 10 GCSE Business students have been immersed in an intensive entrepreneurial project this week, combining creativity with commercial acumen through the Christmas Creative Business Plan Challenge.
Working collaboratively in teams, students developed innovative Christmas decoration prototypes from concept to pitch-ready products. The challenge required each team to demonstrate comprehensive business planning skills, developing a complete marketing mix encompassing product design, pricing strategies, promotional campaigns, and distribution channels.
