Myton’s annual Rock Night gets bigger and better every year and this year was no exception, with a wide range of performances from Year 7 to 13 students. Some students performed for the first time, including Sedona on vocals (Year 7) and Layla (Year 11) on guitar and vocals. We also had some more seasoned performers, including two Queen songs from Billy in Year 8, and vocal solos and duets from Emily and Emaan (Year 8), and Ash and Warwick (both Year 9).
Year 10’s Harvey gave us a wonderful That Take tribute in memory of his late Nanna, a big fan of the band, and somehow still managed to include a conga around the audience finishing with students joining him on stage. We also saw polished performances from our Year 12 students – with surprise vocals from Tom disguised as rock legend Slash in The Less I Know the Better (it was certainly a surprise to me, not being the singer I expected or had listed in the programme!).
The final shout out must go to our Year 13 students who were giving their final performances at Myton – Ruben starting it all off with We Will Rock You and later on duetting with Mr King in I Want to Hold Your Hand, Starman and Careless Whisper – and Harry, Edith, Aled and Caterina, with a guest appearance from ex-Myton student Kelly, finishing the evening with Moving, Just and Cinnamon.
Post-16 students did an amazing job of running this annual event, designing posters, organising the running order and selling refreshments on the night, with Mr Thatcher and Toby (Year 13) providing essential tech support. All money raised will go towards our 2027/8 musical production. See you next year!
