Assessment Centre Day at Siemens Energy
Thank you to Siemens Energy who hosted our first ever Assessment Centre Day last week for our Year 12 students. This was a great opportunity for students to experience a “mock assessment centre day” which is something they may have to go through when applying for apprenticeships/graduate roles in the future. The day involved teamwork activities and interview skills sessions to develop students’ confidence. It gave them a greater awareness of what to expect should they be invited to one of these sessions in the future.
Explore Warwickshire
Our Head of Geography, Mrs Wood, has some suggestions for how students can explore Warwickshire over the summer holidays, helping them keep active, whilst also developing their geographical skills.
You can have a look at her ideas here.
A Trip Down Memory Lane by Kanishk, Year 9 (a semi-autobiographical blog)
Kanishk in Year 9 wrote a semi-autobiographical blog in his English lesson last week. We thought it was a beautiful piece and wanted to share it in this week’s newsletter. You can read an extract from his work below.
Greenpower car’s debut race!
Myton’s greenpower car (which Mr Campbell and a group of Year 10 students have been working hard all year to build as part of the Greenpower Car project, run by the Greenpower Education Trust) had it’s first race this week at Blyton Park Racetrack!
Their peak position in the race was 16 out of 32 and the car reached a top speed of 35kph! The team also had to overcome the challenge of the car breaking mid race, meaning they needed to fix it quickly and get it back out on the track.
Thank you also to Harvey and Charley in Year 13 who have supported with the project. Without their help the car would not have made it onto the track!
Jaguar Land Rover visit for South Asian Heritage Month
In celebration of South Asian Heritage Month, representatives from Jaguar Land Rover talked to Year 9 students this week about their South Asian culture and heritage and the career opportunities available at JLR. JLR embraces diversity in the workplace and their values of kindness, integrity and happiness harmonise with our CARE values. Thank you to everyone involved.
