Monday night saw the final music performance of the year in the form of the summer concert. Once again, the audience was treated to a varied programme with over 35 students from Years 7 to 10 taking part. After a rousing opening from the steel pan group, the vocal group gave a moving rendition of a medley of songs from Les Misérables, which the group rehearsed at a vocal workshop at Warwick Arts Centre last month and which provided the opportunity to showcase the individual talents of many of the dedicated students who have attended weekly lunchtime rehearsals.
A range of solos followed – on violin by Triya, on piano by Aashik, Rafael and Wanshu and vocal solos by Billy, Emaan, Emily, Millie, Verity, Samhi, Warwick and Sedona. For some, this last solo was the highlight, with one student describing her performance of When Somebody Loved Me with the following words: “Really strong vocals with a very emotional but uplifting vibe.”
The concert was rounded off in true Myton fashion with our very own Harvey singing a medley of Beatles and Oasis songs before a surprise final performance of Three Lions with plenty of audience participation! Well done to all the musicians who have worked so hard this year to provide us with such enjoyable performances.
