Dear Parents and Carers
A Week of Memory-Making
This week at Myton has been one of those truly special moments in the school year – the kind that reminds us why education is about so much more than classrooms and qualifications.
Our Year 11 students marked the end of their time with us, surrounded by the school community that has watched them grow. It was an occasion filled with mixed emotions – pride, excitement, and yes, plenty of tears. They are a remarkable cohort of young people, full of character and determination, and I have no doubt they will go on to be real changemakers in the world.
As both a headteacher and a parent of a Year 11 student myself, I understand the mixture of hope and apprehension that families are feeling right now. It is a significant milestone that deserves to be celebrated.
At the same time, our Year 9 students have been creating their own unforgettable experiences on their first day in Newquay. Whether on a surfboard, walking along the beach, or simply spending time with friends, they are beginning to build lifelong memories. These opportunities are such an important part of growing up — stepping outside comfort zones, discovering new passions, and strengthening friendships.
Back on site it was a pleasure to welcome our visiting Year 6 pupils for transition. Watching them take in the atmosphere of the school — and perhaps glimpse what lies ahead for them — was a powerful reminder of the journey our students undertake during their time at Myton. Seeing them look on with awe and excitement at older students encapsulated everything we aim to provide: a place where young people can thrive, belong, and dream of what they can become.
There is truly never a dull moment at Myton. Alongside our commitment to academic excellence, we remain dedicated to providing a rich and varied experience that helps every student grow as an individual.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. It is a privilege to share these moments with you.
Kind Regards
Mrs Curtis
