Dear Parents and Carers
This week we’ve been speaking with many students about their future pathways. Sixth Form applications continue to rise, and Year 11s have been discussing their next steps and attending academic intervention with real commitment. Year 12 and 13 students have been working hard on their progress exams, creating a strong sense of aspiration across the school.
We have also been reviewing ongoing projects. Smartphone and screen use has once again been in the national news, and we have been considering our draft policy. The school rebuild project has moved into its initial design phase, and we look forward to sharing more soon.
Below is an exciting update from Julie Stevens, Head of Sixth Form, celebrating the achievements of our Year 13s and their university applications.
Kind regards
Mr Phipps and Mrs Curtis
Mid‑January marks the UCAS deadline, and this has been an exceptional year at Myton: 86% of Year 13 have applied to university, with around 40% applying to Russell Group institutions. Many students already have offers, though some universities will continue responding into March.
Students have applied for an impressive range of courses – from Fine Art to Criminology, Marketing to Sign Language, and Forensics to Archaeology. Business and Social Sciences remain popular. Highly competitive areas such as healthcare, Maths, and Computer Science have seen some excellent outcomes – well done to those with offers.
We also congratulate the three students who have received offers from the University of Oxford – an incredible achievement.
Well done to all of Year 13, and we wish them every success.
Julie Stevens
