Congratulations to our sports teams this week.
Netball
The U14 and U15 teams both won their cup final matches last week at King’s High School. U14s played Campion School in a fast and competitive netball match which saw lots of great turnovers and fantastic accuracy in shooting. The match was contested well by both sides and the final score was 22 – 1 to Myton.
The U15s were due to play Kingsley in their finals match, but due to mis-communication from our opponents, Myton found there was no team to play. This meant that we automatically won their cup competition! However, as the girls were keen to play a game, King’s High asked its Sixth Form to take part against Myton. We displayed excellent levels of play in both attack and defence, and thoroughly enjoyed the match. Final score 20-20. Big thanks to Miss Palmer for umpiring and coaching.
What a way for the Year 7 and 8 Netball teams to finish the 2021 – 2022 season: the Year 8s were runners up in the Plate section of Wednesday’s Central Area Netball Tournament, and the Year 7s won
it!
There were also some friendly fixtures this week against Campion. The results were:
Year 8 A team: won 19 – 8
Year 8 B team: won 21 – 1
Year 7 A team: narrowly lost 8 – 9
Year 7 B team: won 2 – 0
Well done to all the girls involved over the season, Miss Palmer and Miss Hancock say you have been a pleasure to coach.
Football and Basketball
In other sports, the Year 9 boys Football team had a great victory winning 3-0 against Alcester Grammar School. The team now goes into the semi final of the Cup.
There was a victory in the U13 boys Basketball when our Year 8 team beat Campion 39-30. The Year 10s lost to Campion U16s by five points.
Well done to all those who took part in these sports!
