Year 7 and 8 District Athletics Competition
Well done to the Year 7 and 8 athletics teams who performed well at the District Championships last week, with several students finishing in the top three places in their events. The teams finished as follows:
Year 7 boys – joint 2nd place
Year 7 girls – 3rd place
Year 8 girls – 3rd place
Year 8 boys – 4th place
County Games Girls’ Football tournament
Congratulations to both the U13 and U15 girls’ football teams who represented Warwickshire last week in the County Schools Games finals in Coventry. Both teams competed against some very tough opponents in the 8 games played and both teams finished in 5th place overall.
Rounders results
Our Year 7 and 8 rounders teams beat Kenilworth School this week in very close matches.
This follows success this season in our rounders tournaments, where Year 10 and Year 9 won their tournaments and Year 8 were runners up. Year 7 play their match on the 6 July.
English Schools Track and Field Athletics Championships
Top athletics in the country took part in this two day event at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham last week, with our Year 13 student Rob competing in the 400m event.
Rob finished fourth in his heat and his new personal best time of 48.7 seconds meant he got a place in the final, where he again finished in a superb fourth place, just missing out on a podium position.
This is an amazing achievement and hopefully will inspire our other athletes to follow in his success.
16 of our students volunteered at this prestigious event to help escort athletes to their races and carry their kit. It was a long day, but they rubbed shoulders with leading school athletes, who will be competing for England and Great Britain in the future.
The students were commended for their behaviour and attitude by many senior officials and organisers of the event and were great ambassadors for Myton.
