Today was the first in-school training day for the newly relaunched Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Fifty-six Year 9 and 10 students participated in a day of expedition skills training. They learned how to take a grid reference and read an Ordinance Survey map, then considered the skills and equipment required for the expeditions and learned how to use a Trangia stove for cooking. The afternoon was spent preparing maps and route cards for their upcoming practice expedition.
Mrs Francis said: “There was lots of learning, fun and concentration from all our enthusiastic participants.”
