On Wednesday 10 July, our Year 12 English Language A level students went on a trip to Lichfield to visit the Samuel Johnson Museum.
They looked at a range of 1st edition dictionaries, including Samuel Johnson’s 1755 masterpiece and explored how the language has changed over the centuries. They also had a go at writing with quill and ink to test if they were literate. Did you know that the word ‘computer’ was used in 18th century and can you guess the meaning of ‘bellygod’?
