Year 12 student, Honor has been chosen for the Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet. Honor has been selected this due to her merits within the Sea Cadet Corps and for her dedication and work within the local community.
The lieutenancy involves accompanying the Lord-Lieutenant to local and, occasionally national events.
Honor quotes “My sea cadet unit had to nominate me for the role. Because of volunteering that I have completed in cadets, for example acting as the kayaking instructor; teaching younger cadets’ skills such as engineering and seamanship and working with staff to help promote sea cadets. On top of this I have completed advancement boards and a range of courses to make me eligible for the role. One of these courses was my advanced marine engineering which I completed over lockdown. Another being my kayaking instructors award.
“I am honoured to have received the opportunity and have already attended a jubilee service at St. Marys’ in Warwick and a memorial service for the Falklands 40th anniversary. The role will enable me to engage with a wide range of dignitaries from in and around Warwickshire as well as being able to support other cadet units.
“Sea cadets has been a great opportunity for me and provided me with a plethora of skills which I will be able to carry forward with me”.
We are very proud of Honor’s achievement and wish her well!
