In Year 7 and 8 we use ‘Bedrock Vocabulary’ with all of our students. Bedrock Vocabulary is an online literacy program completed both in LRC lessons and for homework, that helps children learn the academic words they need to succeed in school and beyond. Children complete lots of varied modules where they get pre-tested on important vocabulary, read fiction and non-fiction texts, complete interactive activities, learn the new vocabulary in context and then complete a post-test to see how much they have learned. The program adapts to their level, tells them how and why they might have got things wrong in real-time and marks itself automatically.

80 of our ‘Bedrock Rockstar’ children have gone above and beyond and completed more than the minimum 3 sessions per fortnight consistently all year – and they will be receiving certificates before the end of term.

The 10 students below have completed 450 hours between them and so they are our Bedrock Super Stars this year!
