Please can parents and carers remind their young person about taking care when crossing roads, ensuring they look both ways to check there is no traffic before crossing. We have been notified of a near-miss involving students crossing over Myton Road. Luckily it did not result in any injury but it is an important reminder of the need to take care.

Following further reports of dangerous and inconsiderate parking from parents and neighbours, we would like to remind all drivers about the dangers of illegal and irresponsible parking.

Our Sixth Form students should make use of parking permits where possible to allow them to park on the school grounds and avoid parking in the neighbourhood. If you must park in the areas around the school please consider the impact on the residents before doing so.

As mentioned previously, incidents of dangerous and illegal parking can be reported here (photos and number plates can be uploaded). The safer neighbourhood team can also be contacted by either email on [email protected] or by calling 01926 684361. 

In 2024 former Myton student, Aaliyah Godfrey lost her battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma, she was 20 years old. Aaliyah was a very talented artist and was due to go to University in Leeds, having completed her A levels at Myton and studying an art foundation degree in Leamington, when she discovered a lump in her leg and was eventually diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a very aggressive cancer which commonly affects teenagers and young adults.

Aaliyah was kind, thoughtful, full of, and lived for, life. Aaliyah loved Disney and was very proud of her heritage and is deeply missed by family and friends.

Volunteering opportunities are available for Sixth Form students at the St John’s Haunted House Family Event over October half term. Previous Myton students have really enjoyed volunteering at this event, which offers the opportunity to use spooky, artistic and crafty skills! Interested students can sign up here. Full training will be given to volunteers and post event references will be available.

Parents and carers will receive a letter next week about our shared expectations for attendance, and our aim for 2025-26 that no student misses more than three days of school across the whole academic year.

Regular attendance is one of the strongest predictors of academic success, positive wellbeing, and long-term outcomes. Every day in school matters – it helps students to make progress, feel confident in their learning, and stay connected with their peers.

Dyslexia is a common learning difficulty which affects the processing of written and spoken language in the brain. While it does not impact intelligence, it can present challenges in reading, writing, and spelling within the classroom. We often see Dyslexia as the discrepancy between someone who presents orally as bright, engaging, knowledgeable and articulate who is underperforming academically (not just poor spelling).
