This week our Year 9 students took part in a nationwide education programme called Feeding Britain’s Future in collaboration with Future First. The programme aims to inform and inspire young people about the world of work and how it can help build their employability skills
The sessions focused on the transferable skills students can develop from both the compulsory subjects they study during Key Stage 4, and their option choices. Volunteers in diverse roles – from scientists to sales people – all involved in the food industry explained how their own skills are connected to what they have done at school. The volunteers came from a wide range of companies including Sainsbury’s, Asda, Booker, Coca Cola, Tesco and Arden Foods to name but a few.
The students fully engaged with the event, learnt a lot about the food industry and had some really insightful and interesting conversations with the visitors that were present.
