Congratulations to Mitchell in Year 13 who was named runner up at this year’s Pupil of the Year Award for his work with Myton’s HERO group.
When the results were announced, Mitchell was commended for making “a significant impact for LGBT+ young people across the whole school community.”
The award is run by Just Like Us, a charity whose aim is to support young LGBT+ people and help them thrive. The ceremony, which took place on Tuesday 11 February 2020 in London was attended by business leaders, MPs, educationalists, charity leaders and celebrities.
Mr Jones, Myton’s Deputy Head, who attended the awards ceremony with Mitchell said, “It was a really lovely and uplifting evening. A wonderful venue, where we were surrounded by inspirational schools, teachers, students and young people. The stories each one had of the differences they have made to young people’s lives are remarkable, and for Mitchell to be recognised amongst them is testament to the impact he has had at Myton with his HERO work. I couldn’t be more proud of him.”
