Caring Sixth Formers have been making a difference to older, vulnerable people in hospitals, care homes and the community.
The 15 volunteers, led by Yr 13 student, Jess, have been working with the Kissing It Better (KIB) charity for 12 months, making beautiful craft hearts for patients in Warwickshire.
KIB gives young people a framework to use their talents to ‘light up the day’ for older people, through music, art, pampering, drama or cookery. The charity is represented by Caty Oates who visits the school every Wednesday to work with the students in the Private Learning Room (PLR). The students are supported by Sixth Form Pastoral support, Mrs Voss; Media teacher, Ms Hotten; Sixth Form SEND, Mr Simmonds; and Assistant Head of Sixth Form, Mr Garner.
The group signed up for the KIB activity as part of the Year 12 and 13 volunteering programme and has also taken part in Zoom quizzes and visits to hospitals to sing for patients.
STOP PRESS… STOP PRESS… STOP PRESS… STOP PRESS… STOP PRESS
Today Mr Perry and Mr Jones have received a letter from the Chief Nursing Officer of Warwick and Leamington Hospitals thanking the students for their contributions during the pandemic.
