On Monday we celebrated European Day of languages. Students were greeted in different languages as they arrived at the school gate by members of the MFL department. During form time we heard celebrities speaking in different languages and discovered which teachers speak another language.

Mr Broe, our new Head of MFL and Mrs Millington delivered assemblies to all the houses about the importance of learning another language and showed everyone why Google translate doesn’t work. We talked about learning languages as a gateway to travel, getting a better paid job, improving your memory, becoming better at English, and according to a dating website, making you more attractive (people who put speaking languages on their profile get more hits)!
