Over the last three weeks, many students in Years 7 to 10 have taken part in a range of athletic events around the county.
Myton School entered the Warwickshire School Combined Events Championships which saw students compete in multi events over an afternoon, aiming to achieve as many points as is possible.
The Junior Girls and Boys involved all achieved top 25 positions and our only Year 7 student, Bella, performed superbly well coming away as Warwickshire Champion – well done Bella!
The Warwickshire round of the English Schools Athletics Cup, saw Myton take four school teams to Rugby (52 students in total) and compete against some tough opposition. The children competed well and many produced personal bests in events that they had, for some, not been involved in for the last few years. It was great to see everyone enjoying the event and compete for the school. Many students will gain specific English Schools’ Athletics Association competition badges for their performances.
Year 9 & 10 athletic teams then took part in the District Athletics Championships and Miss Cole, Head of PE, said their enthusiasm for the event and achievements shone through! The highlights were:
- The Year 10 Girls’ team became District Champions.
- The Year 10 Boys’ team were runners up losing out by one point.
- Both the Year 9 Girls’ and Boys’ teams finished third.
Well done everyone who took part!
