Dear Parents and Carers
One of the areas which has really developed at school this year is our careers provision. Our new Careers Lead, Mrs Wedgbrow along with our Director of Key Stage 5, Ms Stevens, have developed an excellent plan and wasted no time in implementing it. Pretty much all our students are now enrolled on Unifrog which is an online platform to support students making choices about their future. The feedback from students following their careers interviews is excellent and we have increasing numbers of events. One such event happened yesterday when our Year 9s had to investigate, through questioning, the roles of local professionals who had volunteered their time to support us with this. The Year 9s I spoke to afterwards were very positive about the activity and it had opened their eyes to some of the different opportunities out there. Feedback from the volunteers was that the students behaved excellently and were polite, engaged, funny and interested, asking good and mature questions.
Thanks to all involved in organising this including Mrs Wedgbrow, Ms Stevens and Mrs Zahran, Head of Year 9. Also a huge thanks to all the volunteers who came into school to be interrogated by our students.
If you would be interested in volunteering for any similar careers events like this in the future, please contact us on [email protected].
Best wishes
Andy Perry
