Dear Parents and Carers
A short note to thank you all for what you have achieved this half term; another half term we are happy to draw the curtain on. I would like to thank you for the high levels of support you have shown throughout this lockdown. Home learning with your child or children is tough and we try not to forget the pressure families are under at this time. Despite the circumstances, our records show consistently over 90% engagement in live lessons in all year groups which we are delighted with. Furthermore, we have been able to work with those who have struggled to make sure they didn’t miss out – around 100 laptops have been allocated and internet connections established in several homes to keep children learning online. This has meant that throughout this lockdown, engagement in lessons has remained very high and learning has continued.
Behind all of this are our parents and carers doing the hard work at home to keep your kids working throughout this half term, a task not made any easier by frequent and contradictory press reports on everything from schools reopening and exams, to long-term impact. I hope that, to some extent, you can take a break next week. Depending on what the Government announces, we plan to leave you alone during the half term break. We will be in touch early the following week in response to the Government’s planned announcement of their roadmap out of lockdown, which I hope will include a roadmap for your kids to come back to Myton.
In the meantime thanks again for everything you have said, done and written to us this half term. We really do appreciate the kind words and support you have given us. Enjoy switching the computers off at the end of today and we will be back in touch in a week or so.
Best wishes
Andy Perry – Head Teacher
