Dear Parents and Carers
This term we have introduced a new protocol for punctuality and lateness. We use students’ diaries to record lateness to school and lessons, and constantly remind them about the importance of punctuality as a life skill. We are grateful to you for checking your son/daughter’s diary at least once a week and would ask you to please continue doing this.
The vast majority of students have excellent punctuality. For those students who need encouragement, we issue a detention for 3 occurrences of lateness in the same week. If they continue to be late across the half term, form tutors will contact home. If there is still no improvement we look at escalating sanctions and strategies with more parental involvement.
We know that, on occasion, events happen which are out of the control of families and students. On these occasions we would appreciate you giving your child a short note of explanation for them to hand in on arrival at school.
Thank you for your support with punctuality and attendance, these are valuable lifelong habits that are well worth developing.
