Dear Parents and Carers
This year has been one of highs and lows. We very sadly lost two members of our community this year: Elaine Dodson our long-standing Librarian and Kieran Long, an extremely popular student in Year 10. Both are missed and will be remembered fondly.
We have had a change of Head Teacher which is never an easy time for a school and of course we faced an Ofsted inspection which criticised us in some key areas. However, we finish the school year with real momentum and on a high. Staff and students have pulled together and our school improvement work is having a real impact. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, staff and students, for their work over the course of the year. We will start September fully staffed, with a clear focus, understood by all, and it will be an excellent year for everyone associated with Myton School.
We do bid a fond farewell to some colleagues today and wish them well in their new roles, near and far. Some relocating to other countries, other parts of this country and taking up promotions. We have four colleagues who are retiring, we wish Barbara Bayliss, David James, Phil Mayor and Mike Sharples well for their future adventures and thank them for their combined service of 98 years at Myton School – quite a shift!
Thank you for your support of our school throughout the year, I will look forward to seeing you in September. Best wishes for the summer break.
Andy Perry – Head Teacher
