On Monday 20 May, our Year 7 students took part in a Fairtrade workshop run by the Midcounties Co-Operative. The students learnt what is meant by Fairtrade and how, as consumers, they can help overseas communities to obtain decent working conditions, better prices for goods, and fairer terms for farmers and workers, whilst protecting the environment in which they work.
The students took part in a challenge to make paper bags from recycled materials as a way of highlighting how some workers have to earn a living with lots of hard work for very little return. The students listened intently to the visitors and fully engaged in the challenge presented to them. Well done to everyone involved.
