Our Year 12 Media students had an amazing trip to Sky HQ this week. They watched Sky Sports News being broadcast, went in a TV studio for an IPL show (with more than half a million pounds’ worth of cameras), did a tour, had a Q & A session with an employee, used an Oculus Rift, borrowed iPads for the day, researched employability and different roles at Sky, and did a team task involving either Sky Sports, Entertainment or News.
On the star spotting front, they saw Jamie Carragher and a white walker from Game of Thrones.
“The trip to the Sky TV studios was fascinating,” said Media Studies teacher Mr Lowe, who organised the trip. “We saw behind the scenes of the business and the studios and learned about job roles and demands at Sky. Several students left feeling really inspired to find work in this area.”
