Sixty of our Year 10 students took part in a Smart Building Challenge STEM Day on Tuesday 8 May. The event was run by Smallpeice Trust and sponsored by St Mary’s Hall Trust. The students were given a range of resources and tasked with constructing a water collection tank with a working pump, a filtration system and an electronic moisture detector. They were assessed on the effectiveness of their design and other aspects such as the aesthetics, the total cost and their team working skills.
Mrs Charlesworth, who organised the event, said: “The students really enjoyed the day. They developed new skills and strengthened existing ones. Thank you to Smallpeice Trust and St Mary’s Hall Trust for making it all possible.”
