On Thursday evening, four Myton sixth formers competed at Warwick University in the regional heat of the UK Maths Trust’s Senior Team Maths Challenge.
Despite facing tough opposition from 16 local schools, the Myton Team were victorious!
Team mates Amritpal Singh (Y13) and Timmy Cooper, Sarah Jennings and Jason Wong (all Y12), were absolutely delighted with their result, and are the first team from Myton to ever win the regional heat of this prestigious national maths competition.
The team’s supervisor, Myton’s Key Stage 5 Coordinator for Mathematics, Matt O’Reilly, said “We are fantastically pleased with this achievement and all credit must go to the superb skills of the students who were not only outstanding in their performance, but equally gracious in their triumph. Over the last few years we have always had a strong team but they have unfortunately been pipped at the post by other schools. This year we finished 7 points clear of the second placed school, which was a great result.”
The team will now go on to compete at the National Final in London on 2 February 2016. We wish them all the very best of luck and are incredibly proud of their achievement.
