We know that lots of our students do some great volunteer work out in the community, for charities and other worthwhile causes. Volunteering gives young people the opportunity to make new friends as well as supporting their local community, learning new skills and improving their CV and future job prospects.
For example, Amber Burkinshaw in Year 10 volunteers every Sunday morning at Fat Fluffs, the rabbit sanctuary in Hampton in Arden. She cleans out the rabbits, weighs them and checks them for any health issues and socialises with them.
Amber says: “I enjoy helping at Fat Fluffs because I like working with animals and it is good work experience towards my goal of becoming a vet. I’ve made friends with the other girls who help out and I’m really happy when I find out a rabbit has been adopted.”
