You may remember that Simran Sandhar in Year 7 recently competed in the regional finals of the annual Foreign Language Spelling Bee competition and qualified for the National Final. Well, since then, Simran has competed at the next stage in the competition and has written this about the experience:
“On Friday 30th June I travelled down to Cambridge University to compete in the National Final of the Foreign Language Spelling Bee 2017. We were in the Lady Mitchell Hall where the next day Professor Stephen Hawkings would be guest speaker in honour of his birthday! We were all very proud to be there as we were the top 102 children out of over 62,000 children that had entered. People were competing in French, Spanish and German. I competed in French along with 36 other children. Although I did not come in the top 4, I did really well and enjoyed the day.”
Congratulations Simran! This is a fantastic achievement.
