Six of Myton’s avid readers agreed to ‘shadow’ this year’s Carnegie Book Awards by reading and reviewing a shortlist of eight books. They have spent the last two months racing through the nominated novels so that they could get together and discuss them on a weekly basis.
They were able to watch the live screening of the Award Ceremony this week in the library and were delighted to see that the Carnegie Medal was awarded to Sarah Crossan for her latest book, One. We were lucky enough to have Sarah attend school in March to talk to students about her writing when she was awarded the Warwickshire School Library Service Book Award for her earlier novel, Apple and Rain.
The 2016 Amnesty Honours Award went to Robin Talley for Lies We Tell Ourselves.
Well done to Grace Bickley (09), Aimee Cox (L2), Amelia Cox (L10), Emma Jackson (L11), Grace Jordan (M11), Ria Sahota (O11).
