This week one of our caretakers, Mrs Carol Jones, found a bat in one of the maths classrooms. It was a pipistrelle bat in quite a poorly state and suffering from dehydration. Mrs Jones contacted a local bat charity who were able to rescue the bat and give it rehydration fluid and food. It is now ready to be released back into the wild in time for the breeding season.
The charity have asked us to let all students know that bats are protected by law and that if they ever find a grounded or injured bat, to not touch the animal, but to call the Bat Helpline on 0345 1300 228.
