We have had a very successful start to the year in the PE department, with many individual and team successes already. So a very special thank you to all the students who have been actively involved in any of the clubs, fixtures and matches so far this year, and we hope to see you again – and others – in the New Year.
It has been a real pleasure to see the growing numbers of students getting involved in physical activity during this first term, including the house matches in core PE lessons.
Our Head of PE, Miss Cole, would like to mention a few notable successes to date:
- The U13 Girls Football team has won the league and the Mid Warwickshire Competition and will now go on to represent the area in the County School Games Finals.
- Our Street Dancers won 3 competitions in the School Games event, including the Key Stage 3 and 4 set piece routines and the Key Stage 4 choreographed competition.
- The Boys Basketball teams remain unbeaten in their matches and currently top the table in their respective leagues.
- The Key Stage 3 Hockey teams remain unbeaten in their fixtures.
- Many of the Netball teams are currently in top 3 positions in the District League.
- The Key Stage 3 Boys Table Tennis team won the School Games Competition and go on to the County Games next year.
- The new Girls Touch Rugby team finished runners up in the District Tournament.
- Several Badminton teams finished 2nd in the District School Games competition, including the Key Stage 3 girls and Key Stage 4 boys teams.
- Tia Norton represented GB at the World Junior and European Senior Padel Tennis Championships, confirming herself as GB number 1 female player.
- Cian Mckeaney became Warwickshire Cross Country Champion.
- Jack Field won the Midlands Judo Title.
- Jordan Kendall became part of the GB Boxing Development squad.
Thanks also to the many sports leaders who have volunteered at the County Inclusive Netball event, primary Schools Football tournament and the Primary Schools Sports Hall Athletics competitions that we have hosted this term. The feedback from all involved was impressive and we in the PE Department were very proud of your help and organisational skills to make these events so successful.
Thank you also for the support of parents and carers who have come to watch and encourage their sons/daughters at all the events.
Have a very Merry Christmas everyone and look forward to a successful start to 2018.
Best wishes
