Dear Parents and Carers
An exciting week where we begin to look more closely at the plans for the new build of our school, a project that marks a significant milestone for our whole community. As we look ahead, the opportunity to shape a modern, purpose-built learning environment brings enormous enthusiasm for what this will mean for our students, staff, and families. With preparations underway to begin moving to the new temporary site next academic year, we are proud to be taking these important steps towards a school that reflects our ambition, values, and commitment to excellence. Assemblies this week have been reflecting on our CARE value of ‘respect’ and considering how we demonstrate this through respect for our site. Our current buildings have to last us a few more years and it is important for us that our students feel pride in their learning environment.

On a wider note, we are disappointed to hear that Ofsted will not reconsider merging its behaviour and attendance judgement. This means that in schools where behaviour is strong, but where some students face additional and often complex challenges in getting to school regularly, this nuance will not be clearly reflected. Instead, these very different factors will be combined into a single judgement, risking an oversimplified picture of a school’s work and limiting recognition of the positive culture and high standards that exist alongside targeted efforts to support attendance. We will continue to do what we feel is right for our young people despite this news.
Have a wonderful weekend and good luck to all the students who have worked hard for many years with the first whole cohort GCSE exam on Monday!
Kind regards
Mrs Curtis
