Dear Parents and Carers
On Wednesday, we held our annual Year 12 employer engagement ‘Speed Networking’ event. There was a great range of employers present, including the DWP, the Co-op and GE Energy, a property acquisition manager for HS2, a radiographer, a GP, a lawyer, and an IT Infrastructure Analyst.
Networking events like this allow students to develop an awareness of the sheer variety of careers that are open to them. It also gives them an opportunity to practise and refine key employability skills such as interviewing, presentation, speaking and listening. The event, and others like it, serve to enhance and strengthen our connections with business, and ultimately help our students understand the world of work.
The feedback from the employers and students was extremely positive; with employers commenting on how engaged the students were and students saying how beneficial they found the networking. One of the employers attending the event, Russell Beech, Director of BI System Builders, said: “I experienced numerous intelligent conversations around ‘data’ and ‘data analytics’ and I was impressed by the quality of the students attending – well done Myton!”
