We are running a ‘Big Friendly Read’ event for all Year 7s on Tuesday 13 September after school in the Learning Resource Centre. The event is part of the 100 years of Roald Dahl celebrations and will involve a celebration of Roald Dahl’s work. Students will be able to listen to books being read, watch DVDs or simply just enjoy one of Roald Dahl’s books.

We are also combining the event with a readathon which all Year 7 students will be eligible to enter. The aim is to try and raise sponsorship money for seriously ill children across the UK. We have supplies of sponsorship forms in the library for students to pick up and fill in.

If your child would like to get involved, tell them to come along to the LRC at break or lunchtime to find out more and pick up a form, or you can download this letter to parents. It’s a fun way to celebrate 100 years of this great author, raise some money and make new friends. Oh, and cake will be involved too!
