As a school, we are marking the anniversary on 6th February, of the tragic death of Myton student, Kieran Long with a Memorial Concert. The event will take place on Thursday 26th January at 3.30pm-4.15pm in Lower School Hall and all Year 11 students will receive a letter from us inviting them to attend if they would like to. Kieran’s friends and members of staff will be performing songs and remembering Kieran.
Music was a particular passion of Kieran’s and one that he shared with his friends, a number of whom have recorded a song in his memory. The track, This Flight, is a group effort, involving almost 20 students, with Beant Dhillon writing and performing the rap, Anaik Dhut on vocals and Callum Hansen writing the music and playing the guitar.
You can listen to the song on Spotify, iTunes or Amazon. It will also be available to buy at the Memorial Concert, with all funds raised going to the Edwards Trust (who support families facing loss and surviving bereavement) and Myton’s Music Department.
Radio stations Heart FM, Capital and Smooth will be featuring an interview with Kieran’s parents and friends during their news bulletins, and will hopefully also play a sample of the track, on Monday 16th January between 6am and 10am.
