Dear Parents and Carers
The second of our three Year 9 trips to Newquay left school early this morning and the weather forecast for the weekend is glorious. Trip 1 returned on Monday and Trip 3 go next Friday. The three consecutive trips enable us to offer this fantastic experience to the whole year group.
Newquay is a long standing Myton tradition, almost a rite of passage for our students, and one that has now been enjoyed by almost 3,000 Myton students over the years! Based in a hotel in Newquay, they spend 3 days swimming in the sea, playing on the beach, learning to surf, body boarding, windsurfing, stand up paddle boarding, coasteering, kayaking, sailing, archery, watching the sun set, building sand castles and getting very little sleep.
The staff who accompany them invariably come back saying how much they appreciate spending time getting to know the students outside the classroom and watching them push themselves out of their comfort zone.
I’d like to thank all the parents who allow and encourage their children to take part in this important trip. And, on behalf of all students past, present and future, I’d like to pass on my huge thanks to Nicola Ealden and all the staff who give up their time and energy to make Newquay happen every year.
With best wishes
Andy Perry – Head Teacher
