It was my pleasure to launch Myton School’s new strategic improvement plan to staff on Monday this week. Working with an external facilitator, the governors discussed what they wanted Myton School to look like by 2021; our core values, our principles and the non-negotiable educational aims for all our students.
The governors reaffirmed Myton’s commitment to inclusive education, and to being a school which serves and has a powerful impact on our community, and which focuses not only on academic excellence but also on the character of our students.
From this, I am delighted to share our 2021 vision for Myton School.
2021 Vision – No child left behind
The outstanding teaching at Myton School, combined with the highest expectations of learning, ensure the students are aspirational and are determined to succeed. They can articulate their learning, value the core skills of literacy and numeracy, and know precisely what they need to do to improve. Subsequently, progress for all students is outstanding. The curriculum, which moves seamlessly from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 5, both inspires and challenges students who, through being resilient and reflective learners, rise to the challenge. Myton students display respect and tolerance in their interactions, are ambitious both for themselves and for others and are confident in their ability to make a positive difference to themselves and their communities.
It is this vision which now guides all decision making here at Myton School. Governors have this statement in front of them when making decisions in order to ensure that everything we do accelerates the delivery of our vision. Over the coming weeks, I look forward to sharing with you how we will be implementing the required changes in school and how we will measure our progress and assess the impact of our actions.
In the meantime, I welcome back all our students after their Easter break. I would also like to thank staff for their exceptional work in delivering revision sessions throughout the school holidays and I wish all our students the best of luck in successfully tackling their examinations this term.
