I would like to take a few moments to praise our new Year 7 students. I constantly get feedback from staff about how well they have settled and what a delight they are to teach, which is exactly what I like to hear. We have been spending time having quick conversations with our new intake to learn their views and they are as positive as the staff about their start at Myton School.
We have introduced new behaviour procedures this year, raising expectations, and I am pleased to see that Year 7 have met those high expectations, with room to spare. Of course, it wasn’t a change for them, these procedures are the only ones they have known, but they have started with great habits and will continue with them, setting the example to all future intakes.
So a huge well done to all Year 7 students and thank you to all the parents who have supported them. We have picked up a few things in terms of tweaks to make next year (some operational things like lockers and clarity of the curriculum) and will make sure we make any changes needed. There will also be opportunities for a greater level of feedback by Year 7 parents later in the year through a questionnaire.
But in summary, I have great hopes for this Year 7. We have an unfailingly polite and very well behaved year group who arrive ready to work hard every day and get involved in all aspects of school life – what more could we want?
