Dear Parents and Carers
At the end of a busy term and busy year it is always time to reflect and consider what went well and what we need to improve. All in all Myton has had a very successful year. We were nominated as the ‘Most Enterprising School’, we were recognised in the PISA tests, we are significantly oversubscribed and our students are gaining positive destinations at age 16 and 18.
Our Year 7 students have settled in wonderfully well. A very positive and supportive ethos exists across the year group and, if their progress is maintained, they will be record breakers. More importantly, they understand the Myton ethos: look after each other, dare to dream big dreams, show courtesy and commitment.
Amongst the things we want to improve are the use of student voice (we already have plans in place to do this) and the further development of our online resources. We also want to build on our business/employer network to further enhance our school’s approach to employability; this is being led by governors. We constantly seek to improve some aspects of work with our most vulnerable. This always needs to be our focus as times are very hard for some families and children. We continue to work in a supportive manner as part of the state education service, helping other schools and the county as best we can in this area, as indeed we hope they can help us.
We have a busy but exciting year ahead. As a school with a record number of applications, a carefully managed and positive school budget, very positive examination results predicted from our detailed data, an experienced and talented group of governors, and ambitious plans for the development of our site, we are well set for a very positive 2016.
May I take this opportunity to thank you for your support over the last year and hope the festive break is a good one for you and your family.
Kind regards
Paul MacIntyre
