Friday 4 March saw the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s (DofE) Award cohort take to the Warwickshire countryside for their first off site training day.
After a day of in school training last month, it was the group’s first opportunity to test out map reading and navigation skills in preparation for their practice and assessed expeditions in May and June.
All 55 of the Yr 9 and Yr 10 participants were enthusiastic and well prepared, bundled up against the chilly March weather, and they participated in the day with maturity and focus, according to DofE Manager, Mrs Francis. They explored the byways around Budbrooke and Hampton Magna, showing off their team working skills. James Vann, director of Venture Outdoor, Myton’s approved activity provider, described the Myton students as “great kids” and went on to say that they were “well prepared and all positive.”
Big thanks to all the students who made the day go so well and a huge thank you to the Myton staff who accompanied the walk, Miss Seymour, Miss Patel, Mrs Burniston and Mr Wallis.
The next DofE training day takes place in school on Monday 4 April. Details will be sent to Parents and Carers nearer the time.
