Transition timetable

We are very much looking forward to you joining us in September. From now on, we want you to feel like a big part of our community.

Because of social distancing rules, we can’t have our transition day on Wednesday 8 July as originally planned.

Here’s a timetable of what we’re doing instead:

15 June – 3 July

Meeting our team

We will make contact with every family of Year 6 students. This will be via a phone call from their new Form Tutor, Head of House or other key member of staff.

This will be an opportunity to ask questions, talk about life in school and discuss what virtual transition week will look like.

6 – 10 July

Virtual Transition Week

We will launch all of our virtual transition resources on our school website. This will include: a video from our Head Teacher Mr Perry, a welcome from your Head of House, information about your form tutor, a virtual tour of the school, a map and activities linked to it.

You will be able to access these resources as a family at a time that suits you. We will make the resources available from 9am on Monday 6 July.

13 – 17 July

Tutor meetings

The Year 7 tutors will be inviting you to take part in virtual form tutor meetings via Microsoft Teams. You can then join in with the group as a family to say hello, see your tutor on screen and have the chance to ask any questions.

We will send invites out to families with instructions on how to join the meetings, our IT team will be able to support.

We will send out invites directly to specific form groups. We will run more than one session per tutor group so you can join at a time that works for you.

If you cannot access Teams, we will be more than happy to call you.

We cannot say what September will look like for students yet, but please be assured that we are planning for a smooth transition from primary school to Myton. We recognise that this is not easy to move schools at this time and our plans for students in September will involve a strong focus on relationship building, getting to know people in school and wellbeing. Strong foundations of relationships and community always develops excellent learners.

If you have any general questions about the transition process, please email and we will happily answer them.
