Year 9 Geography students recently took part in a day’s fieldwork at Coombe Abbey. The Geography team, together with willing volunteers, took 50 students out for the day to conduct some river fieldwork, looking at how river processes work and the wildlife found within them.
It wouldn’t be a river fieldwork trip without a little bit of pond dipping and the students seemed to enjoy naming the fish they found; ‘Barry’ was a particular favourite!
These activities were designed to widen their knowledge, building on skills learnt in the year, as well as helping their transition to GCSE Geography. The trip was a success and we look forward to doing it again next year.
