This week’s Year 12 guest speaker was a former student, Emily. Former Head of Senate (our Sixth Form Student Leadership Team), Emily is now working for Grant Thornton as a Business Services Associate on a Level 7 Apprenticeship. Emily was in the shoes of our Year 12 students only two years ago and so was able to give useful tips on how to get into apprenticeships, de-mystified the application process and dispelled some common misconceptions about this post-18 route.
Emily’s job with the accountancy arm of the business is far from dull and the foundations she is currently laying mean that she has secured herself a very bright future. Emily applied to both university and apprenticeships, meaning that when the time came she had the best of choices. Emily is a perfect role model for our young people, and we are very proud of her.
Year 12 is the time to get started on ensuring these next steps are planned out – there is a lot of focus on this at the moment and support is available for those who want to access it.
If you would like to be a guest speaker for the Sixth Form, whether it be a passion, a career, a charity, an interest or a message you’d like to share, please come and enthuse, inspire and broaden the horizons of our young people. You can contact Mrs Millington on [email protected].
