On Tuesday 22 January, Ruby Sarkar in Year 7 appeared on BBC Radio London to discuss her opinions on a variety of topics live on air with Vanessa Feltz. Ruby (pictured with BBC Producer), who has recently joined Myton after relocating from London, has written an account of the experience:
“With tired yet very curious eyes I experienced the BBC studio, lost in the wonders of the building. People (or for all I knew, celebrities) were entering lifts to appear on a broadcast I’d been listening to in the kitchen, or on the school run… only now, I was on it too! The night before I’d spent practising voicing my opinions on newspaper articles and in a flash here I was, sat in the BBC and opposite Vanessa Feltz, about to go on air. I reviewed several articles ranging from debates regarding a potential four-day week, to the story of a boy from an under-privileged background being accepted into a prestigious college. All too soon it was over, but I’ve been invited back next month. I am eternally grateful for having the opportunity to do this.” – Ruby
