Year 10 students visited the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy near Oxford this week to learn about the potential of nuclear fusion to meet our energy needs as well as technological challenges faced.
They got to see the Joint European Torus (JET), a magnetically confined plasma physics experiment. When running it heats plasma to 150 million degrees, making it the hottest place in the solar system (and in the universe outside of a supernova).
