We’re delighted to announce that Mrs Edwards, who has taught at Myton School for 33 years, was nominated for German Teacher of the Year Award 2017 which was jointly hosted this week by the Austrian, Swiss and German Ambassadors at the German Embassy.
The national award, now in its 14th year, recognises outstanding contributions to the teaching of German in the UK. It is a highly respected and competitive award. This year over 150 applications were considered before being whittled down to a shortlist of 30.
On Monday 12 June Mrs Edwards and Mr Broe from Myton’s Modern Foreign Languages department attended the Awards Ceremony in London and it is with immense pride that we can announce that Mrs Edwards was the Runner-Up for German Teacher of The Year 2017. Such an award is recognition of her inspirational teaching, commitment to improving the lives of young people, passion for German and dedication to education. Furthermore, Mrs Edwards was recognised for her commitment to the highly successful annual German Exchange with our partner school Die Kunst-und Musikschule der Stadt Brühl, which is currently in its 24th year.
They attended a conference in the morning followed by the awards ceremony later that afternoon at the German Embassy where 500 guests enjoyed an inspirational speech by John Le Carré (pictured above with Mrs Edwards).
