Last Saturday Mr Aynsley and his friend, Simon Keell, took on their greatest cycling challenge to date – a sportive called the “Yorkshire Beast” Yorkshire Beast Sportive | Velo29 Events. Their challenge was to cycle 200 miles with over 16,000 feet of climbing, over half the height of Mount Everest, in 16 hours. Riders are chased by “the beast” (a pick up truck) who catches any rider who falls below the required speed. This is considered the hardest sportive in the UK and many riders do not succeed.
They both completed this challenge to raise money for a great charity, Woodland House, which supports parents who may have lost a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death. For anyone who would like to donate the link can be found here.
Well done Mr Aynsley and Simon!
