Last week, we reported the success of one of our sixth form students in the poetry competition run by the Stratford Literary Festival. We’ve since discovered that another student – Millie J in Year 11 – also entered the competition and her poem has been selected for publication in the anthology.
Millie has kindly allowed us to share her poem with you:
Busy Mind
My mind is forever kinetic.
Never does it pause.
Never does it wander away,
Away from its predictable nature of unpredictability.
You see me stare,
Into the dust.
Into the dust that dances within the sunlit air.
You see me still, you still me slow, you see me stare.
A hushed exterior.
A blaring interior.
A deafening silence.
An irreconcilable alliance.
I am sentenced to an eternity;
Stuck in the sticky tar of immortal daydreams.
To dive and indulge within infinities.
A cascade of frivolous abstractions.
Never is there nothing,
Forever is there everything.
Ignorant to never,
A mind of always.
